Daniel Sheeran works in the Joint Operations Centre in the UN Stabilisation Mission in DR Congo (MONUSCO) in Kinshasa. Daniel is a former commissioned Army Officer in the Irish Defence Forces where he served on three UN peacekeeping tours of duty in Liberia, Chad and Lebanon. He finished his Army Career as an Instructor in the Irish Army’s UN Training School in the Military College in 2014.

 Since then Daniel has worked in posts ranging from humanitarian, security, and currently peacekeeping. In 2014 he worked as the Civil-Military Coordinator for UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in the Central African Republic. Following that he assumed the role as Chief of Security Operations for the UN Peacekeeping Mission in CAR (MINUSCA). He has also served as Field Security Advisor for WHO in North East Nigeria. Before his current posting Daniel worked as Field Security Coordination Officer for UN Dept of Safety and Security (UNDSS) in Colombia.

He is a graduate of the Irish Human Rights Centre in the National University of Ireland in Galway. Where he holds an LLM in Humanitarian Law, Peace Operations and Conflict. He also holds a Post Grad Diploma in French from the same University.
