Huber

Ambassador Dr. Peter Huber assumed the position of Director General for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance at the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria in September 2022.

Prior to that he was the Special Advisor for the Austrian Candidature for the Security Council at the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.

Dr. Huber served as Ambassador of Austria to Germany from 2017 to 2022 and from 2014 to 2017 as the Austrian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and accredited to the Principality of Andorra.

A career diplomat, Dr. Huber served as Head of Cabinet of the State Secretary and Director and Deputy Director of the Department for International Organisations. His international postings include also New York and Paris.

Ambassador Huber holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Innsbruck, a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University Law School and is an alumnus of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.

His teaching positions include Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid, University of Vienna and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. Beyond his native German, Ambassador Huber speaks English, French and Spanish.
