Yves Daccord, born in 1964, holds a degree in political science.
After a first career as a journalist and television producer, he
joined the ICRC in 1992 and worked in Israel and the occupied
territories, Sudan, Yemen, Chechnya and Georgia.
He was appointed Head of the Communication Division in 1998
and then Director of Communication in 2002, a post he held until
his appointment as ICRC Director-General in 2010.
