Closing Statement

|

Bianca Ernst is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit-, Social-, and Healthcare Management at the Management Center Innsbruck.

Before that, Bianca has worked in different areas of responsibility within the police department in Salzburg between 2017 and 2022, where she gained expertise in legal matters, field and office work, as well as emergency unit coordination and communication.

In 2017 she joined the volunteer fire brigade in her hometown of Krispl near Salzburg, where she became the first female group commander in her section in Tennengau. She is also a member of the Reichenau volunteer fire brigade in Innsbruck and the international emergency response team of the Salzburg Regional Fire Brigade Association. Bianca participated in international fire operations and exercises, including the wildfires in Greece in 2021 and the flood exercise in Romania in 2022.

Her objective is to study risk prevention and disaster management at the university of Vienna in order to support European forces within the matter and contribute to effective solutions.

Her interests lie in the intersection of disaster relief and challenges in climate change, as the impacts of climate change are already being felt worldwide and disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations.

She is driven by the urgent need for humanitarian aid and the complex political and human challenges that arise in addressing these issues.
