Suzanna Tkalec is the newly appointed Humanitarian Director of Caritas Internationalis. Suzanna brings to this position more than fifteen years of senior humanitarian leadership having managed emergency responses in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. She has spent the last three years working as the Emergency Team Director for the International Rescue Committee (IRC). In that role, Suzanna was responsible for setting up the initial response, providing overall leadership and in country representation in all major emergencies. She opened new country programs and set up the emergency responses in Yemen, Nigeria and the Philippines, managed the initial response to the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan, the latest IDP crisis in Iraq/Kurdistan and the Syria cross border initiatives. Suzanna also spent twelve years with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) where she covered different roles such as Senior Advisor for Protection in Emergencies and Director of the Emergency Response Team. Suzanna is a Human Rights Lawyer.
