The 5th Humanitarian Congress Vienna, The Future of Humanitarian Aid, was yet another congress day packed not only with fresh ideas but with many a new insight as well. Those who joined us on 29 March at the University of Vienna will have their own personal highlights. Perhaps it is the keynote address of Mark Lowcock, the sharp moderation of Claus Haugaard Soerensen, or the lively exchange between Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle and Peter Maurer. Perhaps it were the passionate debates on the media – or the triple nexus panel.Those likely to be the ones setting the agenda in a few years’ time, namely the young generation shared thought-provoking ideas during the university panel. The panels on emerging technologies, future financial concepts and the discussion on International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law gave many food for thought.
